Luckenbooth Silver Brooch - large
Luckenbooth brooches originated in 16th Century Edinburgh. They were given as love tokens or lucky charms for warding off witches, and sold in the locked - or 'lucken' - booths near St Giles Cathedral on the Royal Mile.
Small pendant loop on back.
Hallmarked 925 (sterling silver).
